Kucinich drops out of presidential race

It was a matter of when, not if.

…for those of us somewhat grounded in reality anyway. From the AP story:

Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich is abandoning his second bid for the White House. In an interview with Cleveland’s Plain Dealer, the six-term congressman said he was quitting the race and would make a formal announcement on Friday.

“I will be announcing that I’m transiting out of the presidential campaign,” Kucinich said. “I’m making that announcement tomorrow about a new direction.”

“New direction?” Any predictions?

Kucinch did Obama a big favor … in 2004, Dennis stayed in the whole time and it really didn’t matter as Kerry had it sewed up … but in this case there are some very strong Kucinch supporters who now will have to choose between Cheney-Lite Clinton with $4/gallon gas or Outreach Obama with $2 gas ( in other words, do you want the Armed Services Committee approach of conflict with Iran or the Foreign Relations Committee approach of engaging Iran and Syria … it’s a simple question that you will pay at the pump.)

A new direction ? How about a Ron Paul / Kucinich ticket ? That may be enough to tilt the balance in a few states (Florida, Oregon) to affect the Electoral College.

I was hanging on to ever word you said until the last two lines. Other than Iraq the two men advocate for completely opposite things. RP will vote against Democratic spending bills because they spend too much, DK will because they don’t spend enough.
